I had a wonderful evening on Saturday performing some close up magic for the guests at Claire and Ian’s 10th wedding aniversary.
I recently held a competition on my Facebook page Colin Dymond Magic and Ventriloquism to name my new squirrel puppet.
The winner, who named him Dmitri was Jenna Clake. Here she is with her prize, two of my new Snot The Dragon chocolate lollies. These are available, if you book a children’s party for £1.50 each. I will be running a compassion soon where someone can win lollies for all the children at their party!
Make sure you are signed up to my Facebook page for a chance to win.
This July I was exceedingly pleased to be asked to perform at the worlds largest ventriloquist convention, in Kentucky USA.
This was the fortieth anniversary of the convention so it was a big affair with nearly 700 ventriloquist from around the world attending.
We were treated to lectures from Terry Fator, winner of America’s got talent and now star of the biggest show in Vegas. Jeff Dunham arranged for all 700 attendees to be bused to see his show at a local arena, he then came back to be a part of the convention!
I was asked to perform in one of the evening gala shows. To say it’s a little daunting to perform in front of the best in the world is a bit of an under statement. They were an amazing audience and I had a great time. I can’t wait to go back again and hopefully lecture on how I add magic to my ventriloquist routines.
Here is a short clip with the highlights from my show. I hope you like it.
After a great run of magic workshops at The Subscription Rooms in Stroud over the summer holidays, I am really looking forward to the first Magic Club.
Over six weeks the children will not only learn fantastic magic tricks but they will also learn the performance skills needed to transform tricks into “magic”!
All the props used in the magic club will be supplied at no extra cost. This will include, a magic wand, a special pack of playing cards and every child will receive a certificate of achievement.
Children’s Magic Club is for children aged between 7-12
Booking is essential and should be made via the Subscription Rooms
I look forward to seeing you there.

Balloon Modelling is becoming an ever bigger part of what I do. I regularly make balloon models for sick children in hospitals around the south west, including “The World’s Largest Balloon Dog!” I work for POD children’s charity who do such a great job and are well worth supporting.
I even have a talking balloon model that Snot The Dragon uses to do ventriloquism.
I am now offering a Balloon upgrade to all my children’s parties, this includes a simple balloon dog or butterfly for all the children plus a special, larger animal or super flower for the birthday child.
I can also make the “ride inside” balloon cars, super balloon poodles, these are made up with 15 12″ balloons and large monkeys up trees.
To order the super balloon models, either as a one off model or to add to a party package. Use the contact page to get in touch. There are many more balloon models I can make, just ask!
Magic is “cool”!
Never has magic been so popular with the public and especially with children, it’s all over the TV Dynamo, Troy, Killer Magic and BGT but the thing that makes this so exciting is that the magic is accessible to all. There isn’t the need for large boxes and glamorous assistants the magic that is popular and known as “Street Magic” is magic that you can carry in your pockets, magic with everyday object.
The effect that blew Simon Cowell away on BGT cost less than £10!!!
But! and it’s a big but, buying a £10 magic trick does not make you a magician! Here’s where magic school comes in, magic lessons with a member of The Magic Circle with 20 years experience not only teaches the mechanic of magic but more crucially the performance of magic. Magic is a performing art and requires the same skills as an actor. There is a saying that “A magician is an actor playing the part of a magician”. Colin teaches easy to learn tricks that become “magic”!
In either a magic workshop or Magic School your child will receive every thing they need to be able to perform the tricks taught in the lessons.
Suitable for children in key stage 2 up to 20 per class!
See the Magic Lessons page for more details.
Children’s parties and especially food for children’s parties can be quite stressful for some parents so with that in mind I have started to share some great ideas on my new Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/colindymond?fref=ts please like and share my new page and over the coming weeks and months I will share some great tips on running a successful children’s party. Party Games, Party Dances, how to make sure the music you play at your children’s party is appropriate and how to give the children great party food that they will love and won’t take you days to prepare.
